As you begin another semester, start a new job or position, what are your plans for continued professional development? We all want to get better at what we do and reach our full potential but what does that look like?

You probably attend professional conferences, listen to webinars and podcasts, are a member of professional organizations and may even present at conferences. Most of you have probably taken leadership classes and career assessments over the years. But what does all of this mean when it comes down to your growth and development?

One of the reasons I enjoy career coaching is that the individuals I work with are not just satisfied with where they are, they want to be the best at what they do and to do it in an environment that matches their interests, skills, values and passion. They want to know what the trends are in their career of interest and to be industry leaders. They want to develop the skill set and network necessary to be successful at the next level.

Sometimes we can be so busy perfecting what we do in our current position that we don’t focus enough on our next opportunity and what we’re really passionate about. How do you assess your current skill set, develop and utilize your networks and build your personal brand so that you’re ready for that next move?

These are questions that I rarely thought about as I jet-setted through a career in sports. While fulfilling and highly successful, the time needed to focus on my own interests, skills, passion and goals was inadequate to prepare me for entrepreneurship. This is why I’m so passionate about helping women interested in a career in sports to obtain the information, resources and extensive network that can help them reach their career goals.

Our professional development game plan is based on career development theory and my over twenty-five years of experience in the sports industry coaching athlete development leaders, professional athletes and graduate students. The sports industry is extremely competitive. At Hilliard Solutions, we can help you gain the edge you need to reach your career goals. Sign up today for a complimentary coaching consultation!
