Who am I?

Most people who work in the helping professions grew up in an environment where education was emphasized. It’s certainly true for me. My first teacher was my mother. She taught me how to read before first grade. I, in turn, taught my younger sister how to read before she entered first grade. I had an older sister who was a teacher and brother in school to become a teacher. My favorite aunt was a teacher and principal. A cousin I admired was also a teacher. My mother earned a teaching assistant certificate in her late 50’s.

The Importance of Education

The value of education each of my parents and family instilled in me was the most important gift, short of raising us in the church, anyone could ever receive.

The Influence of Sports

Three of my brothers were high school athletes who participated in tennis, football and track. I began playing basketball in seventh grade by accident.  One of my classmate’s sisters was a star on the high school team. I made  varsity in 9th grade, earned a full scholarship to college, became a teacher, coach and counselor, and the rest of my career is history.

Discovering My Passion

As you can see, education and sports shaped my career and became my passion and purpose in life. The experiences, lessons, and individuals I’ve been fortunate to enjoy and help along the way are unique and special. They are why I am who I am.

Reinventing & Reimagining

Life is full of transitions. As one who values education, enjoys helping others and understands the impact of sports on society, I’m thrilled to have begun the fourth quarter of my career as an “edu-preneur.” That means integrating my love for education and sports into a business that positively impacts lives. It also means taking risks and facing life’s transitions with faith, courage and confidence.
